Equity Crowdfunding Platform News 🏗️
New crowdfunding regulations take effect in Europe on 10th November. In summary, these regulations will make it easier for investors and startups to raise capital via equity crowdfunding. Expect to see more European raises soon!
Seedrs are rumoured to be exploring merger/acquisition rumours yet again. Seedrs' campaigns team manager hinted at this possibility in a recent interview, without disclosing any specifics. As many readers might know, Seedrs and Crowdcube had a planned merger blocked by the FCA earlier this year. Any guesses on the potential acquiring/merging company? Please comment below! 👇
General News (exits, raises and more) 🏗️
Freetrade reaches 1m users, recently clocking in ~7k users per day. This follows a recent marketing spree that involved, for instance, Monzo and several influencers. Their next crowdfunding round is rumoured to be later this year.
RoosterMoney - A banking app for kids with ~130k users, has been acquired by Natwest. This represented a return of 2x for Seedrs investors who invested in their crowdfund about 1 year ago.
Nothing - the new hardware startup by Carl Pei (founder of OnePlus) announced they had raised ~£37m in an extension to their series A earlier this year. So far, nothing have sold over 100k ear1s (their true wireless earbud product) since launching in August.

Allplants - the D2C vegan microwave meal startup, has secured £38m in a series B led by Draper Esprit (backers of Cazoo, Revolut and N26), joined by Triplepoint Capital (Dollar Shave Club, Etsy, Facebook), footballer Chris Smalling and Cassandra Stavrou MBE (founder of snack company PROPER). The funds will go towards hiring talent, expanding their menus and growing their production capacity six fold. Allplants are said to be planning a pre-emption round on Seedrs later this year.
Heura foods - Spain's answer to Beyond Meat, will launch in mexico via a walmart partnership. The partnership will see Heura's chicken bites, strips, burgers and meatballs available in over 200 shops across the country. Heura foods is already available in over 16 countries globally, and recently raised ~£13m following their ~£4m crowdcube round earlier this year.

Monzo - the neobank, announced they had abandoned plans to obtain a US banking license when it became clear the regulator would refuse their application. They will still, however, continue their US expansion, albeit via a banking partner.

The Plum Guide - Airbnb but luxury; Think Mr and Mrs Smith hotels, but for homestays. Plum Guide are backed by the likes of Octopus ventures (Backers of Secret Escapes, Depop and Sofar Sounds) and Local Globe (Citymapper, Transferwise, Zoopla), and have recently raised ~£7m in a round led by Beringea (Papier, Festicket, Fnatic). Breedr - A trading and analytics platform for cattle; thinkEbay, but for cows. Backed by Local Globe. Pre-register here.
